Alexander's Baptism - Greek Orthodox Church, Parkdale. Reception - Windows on the Bay
I arrive early at the Greek Orthodox Parish of Archangels in The Corso Parkdale to capture a few pictures before the Baptism of Alexander. The church is nestled in between homes in a residential street just a few blocks from the beach. I park my car on the lower level and am immediately approached by an older gentleman asking if I need some assistance. I explain why I am there and he kindly directs me up to the church entrance. From there I am greeted by an older lady who warmly welcomes me and encourages me to go inside. It is here that I am greeted by "Tony" who again welcomes me and provides an overview of the service.
This warmth continued as Alexander's family and friends arrived for the service. We take a few family pics and despite Alexander's older sister not wanting photos she was excited to twirl in party dress.
Little Alexander was none too impressed by being the centre of attention and certainly let the congregation know! And needed a little help from his grandmother to settle him.
Being able to be a part of a Baptism is something that I treasure. This most significant day in a little one's life, the proud parents and grandparents, the honour it is to be chosen as the child's godparent/s and the various elements that make up the ceremony.
Little Alexander below looking a bit apprehensive before his immersion...and the inevitable.
Protective dad looking on apprehensively as Alexander has his hair cut three times.
Some other images from the service
Sometimes it's all a bit too much...
At the conclusion of the ceremony family and friends made the short trip to Windows on the Bay for a lunch time reception and Alexander gets a well earned rest.
We took the opportunity to photograph some family groupings outside the venue and just love this pic of Alexander and his mum enjoying the sunshine. Thanks Rhodine and Mark for allowing me to share this special day with you and your family.
