Newborn photography is a special way to capture the memories of your baby’s first few weeks of life. I offer two styles of newborn photography – studio and lifestyle. Each style has its own benefits and it’s important to understand the differences so you can choose the best option for your family.
Studio newborn photography takes place in my studio at 2/12 High Street, Mansfield. It is equipped with professional lighting, backdrops, and props (blankets, baskets, headbands, outfits and bonnets) to create the perfect setting for your photos. We can even create a colour theme to suit your home decor.
Studio newborn photography is generally more posed than that of a lifestyle session.
A studio session is right for you if:
- you like the look of the photos created in a studio session
- you prefer a more posed and stylised look for your photos
- if your home is very dark (lifestyle sessions required at least one room with lots of natural light)
- you don't feel like bringing people into your home. Let's face it - you're probably sleep deprived, have had a steady stream of visitors, the washing is piling up and the last thing you want is to tidy up for a photographer. I definitely don't expect a spotlessly clean home but I get it, if you are going to the trouble to book a photographer you may feel you need to tidy.
Lifestyle newborn photography, on the other hand, takes place in a more natural and relaxed environment, such as your home or a park. This style captures the everyday moments and interactions between the family and the baby, such as snuggles on the couch or feedings. The focus is on the connection between the family members and capturing the real emotions and moments that happen naturally. Lifestyle newborn photography is a great choice for families who want a more organic and candid look for their photos and prefer a less staged setup.
Some reasons why you night choose a lifestyle session:
- you may be more relaxed at home
- your photos will be uniquely you and your family
- they can be shorter than studio newborn sessions
- you get to have photos in that gorgeous nursery that you've spent so long getting ready for your little one
- you may not feel up to leaving the house in the first few weeks
Both studio newborn photography and lifestyle newborn photography have their own benefits and are great options for capturing the memories of your baby’s first few weeks of life. The choice between the two styles ultimately comes down to personal preference and what kind of look you want for your photos. Either way, you will end up with beautiful memories from this very special time in your life.
If you are unsure please don't hesitate to be in touch and we can chat about which option will work for you and your family.
