Coombs Hill Barn, Merrijig - Wedding
The 160 year old American Barn - known as Coombs Hill Barn - imported from the USA and restored and rebuilt on 100 acres of rolling paddocks in Merrijig Victoria was the perfect location for Stephen and Anna's wedding.
The wet weather leading up to and persistent rain on the day of the wedding caused a few headaches for the ceremony location. The original plan was to have the ceremony on the grassed area at the back of the barn overlooking Mt Buller however the paddocks were saturated resulting in mowers being unable to access it without getting bogged. The long grass did however make for some stunning sunset photos (more on that later).
The ceremony was moved a couple of times on the day from the balcony to the grassed area at the front of the Barn. Fortunately the short break in the rain was long enough to complete the ceremony, a family and bridal party photos before heading indoors.
So many personal touches to the day - a procession in keeping with Dutch tradition, a wedding box, a sculpture made for the ceremony, acknowledgements of loved ones not able to share their day, guests who had travelled from across the globe, a fingerprint tree painting and a very entertaining ceremony.
Getting Ready
Procession
In keeping with Dutch tradition, Stephen and Anna led the bridal party and guests to the ceremony location.
Ceremony
The ceremony was conducted by the very entertaining and talented Damien Vick. Damien was not only the 'unofficial' celebrant but also the creator of the amazing sculpture. The ceremony was made official by registered celebrant Barbara Taylor.
Reception
Post Wedding Shoot
The weather conditions (freezing and sideways rain) and a medical emergency of a dear family member resulted in Stephen and Anna's dream photos not being able to be taken on the day.
Fortunately I had access to the venue the following week and invited the couple to a post wedding shoot. They couldn't resist the opportunity to get dressed up again and enjoy some time together without the pressures of all that a wedding day can bring.
The weather conditions couldn't have been more perfect and we made full use of photos in the long grass at sunset along with photos of the couple in and around the Barn. It was such a lot of fun and with Briony of Briony Hardinge Photography on site having just completed a personal branding retreat we have every angle covered and some behind the scenes shots as well.
Thank you Stephen and Anna for being such a wonderful couple and entrusting me to capture in your special day.
